Abstract
Understanding Tendinitis: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Approaches
Author(s): Grace Lee*Tendinitis is a prevalent orthopedic condition marked by the inflammation or irritation of tendons, significantly affecting mobility and overall quality of life. This article provides an indepth examination of tendon anatomy, outlining the various causes of tendinitis and highlighting common forms such as tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, Achilles tendinitis, and rotator cuff tendinitis. Early recognition of symptoms—including pain, swelling, and limited range of motion—is essential for prompt diagnosis and effective management. Diagnostic procedures typically involve a detailed medical history, thorough physical examination, and, when necessary, imaging tests to confirm the condition. Treatment strategies encompass a spectrum of approaches, from conservative measures like rest and ice application to pharmacological interventions such as anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy. In more severe cases, corticosteroid injections may be indicated. Additionally, the use of supportive devices like braces can aid in immobilizing affected joints, promoting healing and restoring function. This article aims to enhance understanding of tendinitis, offering insights into its pathophysiology and fostering informed discussions about prevention and management strategies.
