The bacterial, viral and parasitic infections that causes gastroenteritis are known as Gastrointestinal infections. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and
inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract involving both the stomach and the small intestine. Diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain are the symptoms of Gastrointestinal infections. Rehydration is important as in
gastrointestinal infections dehydration occurs and it is dangerous too. In healthcare settings and in specific populations such as in immunocompromised patients, newborns or in elderly populations the
infection is very serious. Quick diagnosis, suitable treatment and
infection control measures must be taken particularly in these circumstances. Large number of microorganisms are mostly involved in causing gastrointestinal infections.
