Occupational Accidents

Occupational accident is a sudden and unexpected accident due to unforeseen external factors which cause injuries to employees. An occupational accident may occur either at the place of work or when the employee has been sent to another location on work related instructions from the employer. It is the responsibility of the employer to report the severity of the accident to both the police and occupational safety authorities. The reporting is required as per the law of the occupational safety authorities of the local region. Serious injuries reported to the police must be investigated by the police at the place of the accident. Not reporting such accident to authorities and the police is an offence. The reporting must also be done to the insurance company. The occupational accident is considered severe if it involves the death of an employee or if the employee suffers a permanent injury. The investigation of the authorities analyse the course of events and cause of the accident and also collect crucial factors which can prevent future accidents.
