Pharmaceutical technology is application of knowledge domain or technology to pharmacy, pharmacology, and therefore the pharmaceutical industry. it is also called the science of dosage form design. There are many chemicals with pharmacological properties, but need special measures to help them achieve therapeutically relevant amounts at their sites of action. Pharmaceutics helps relate the formulation of
drugs to their delivery and disposition within the body. Pharmaceutics deals with the formulation of a pure drug substance into a dosage form. A branch of pharmaceutics includes Pharmaceutical formulation, Pharmaceutical manufacturing, and Dispensing pharmacy. A drug company, or pharmaceutical company , may be a commercial
business licensed to research, develop, market and/or distribute drugs, most ordinarily within the context of healthcare. They will deal in generic and/or brand medications. Two organizations regulate
drugs and pharmacies in Bangladesh. The Directorate General of Drug
Administration (DGDA) is that the national drug regulatory agency which is under the Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare .Course Content Introduction: Definition, discipline, scope. Pre-formulation: Preliminary evaluation and molecular optimization, bulk characterization of the fabric crystalinity and polymorphism, thermal properties, hygroscopicity, particle characterization, bulk density, powder flow properties, solubility analysis, pKa determination, pH solubility profile, effect of temperature, solubilization, partition coefficient, dissolution, stability analysis, solution stability, solid state stability. Dosage forms: Introduction, Definition, advantages, disadvantages and classification of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. Liquid dosage forms: Solution and elixirs, theory of solution, various factors affecting solution process, advantages and drawbacks, formulation considerations.
